Extra Lessons: Fossils

 

In order to meet the revised state science standards around fossils several lessons have been developed. These lessons were written in collaboration with the scientists from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratories and teachers within the state. To access these lessons follow the steps below.

  1. Go to: www.pnl.gov
  2. Select "Science and Engineering Education" (icon in lower right).
  3. Type "Fossil Lessons" in the search box.
  4. Select the first listing: "PNNL: Science & engineering Education- Fossils Classroom Lesson.".
  5. Download lessons from the sidebar on the right.

  2. Classroom books suggested to support student learning.
  3. A PowerPoint presentation that is essential to Lesson 2.

Fossil Lesson 2

LS3D: Fossils are often similar to parts of plants or animals that live today.

LS3E: Some fossils are very different from plants and animals that live today.
 

Fossil Lesson 3:

LS3D: Fossils are often similar to parts of plants or animals that live today.

LS3E: Some fossils are very different from plants and animals that live today.

INQD: Simple instruments, such as magnifiers, thermometers, and rulers provide more information than scientists can obtain using only their unaided senses.
